Contract negotiations update session #2
Posted Jun 14, 2022
We met with management for our second session. We were disappointed that management did not come to the table with any economic proposals today at all, nor did they respond to any of the wages, premiums, or differentials that we proposed last session (except to reject our proposals for a new float differential and for a new float unit for nurses who work in multiple areas of the medical center).
We were able to have some conversation and dialogue about issues affecting PIMC nurses and we did reach some tentative agreements on a few items including that a nurse can take an officer or rep with them to their first step grievance meeting and timeline extensions to grievances.
We will not be meeting again until July 11 with management for our third session. In the meantime, keep wearing your blue WSNA t-shirts on Blue Mondays – every Monday between now and July 11.
We need to show management that we stand in solidarity, in unity, and expect to have a fair contract and wages that reflect the increased cost of living here on island. Make that sea of blue shirts every Monday visible between now and next session.
More information to follow on additional actions we will take to help push management to bring a fair proposal July 11. It was a great showing of all who participated in our very first Blue Monday today! You all looked fabulous, and your team felt the love and support.
In solidarity,
Your team at the table:
Zanna Cochran – Clinic
Melissa Aylward – OR
Julie Bielau – OR
