Workplace Violence

Violence against staff from patients continues to be a topic of concern and discussion. We are hearing that there is a rise in the LTCC unit of the CBHL, but we need staff to file ADOs so we can continue to document the issue and put pressure on the employer. Please join us Thursday, February 20 at 1600 over Teams to have a discussion and develop a plan with your nurse representative, officers, and organizer. Please use the link below to join:

Monthly Virtual Drop-in

Starting next Wednesday, February 19 at 1600, we will be hosting virtual drop-in sessions for employees to ask questions and raise concerns. We will also be discussing what an ADO is when to fill it out, and why it’s a vital tool in your tool belt as union nurses. Please join us using the link below:

2025 Bargaining

We have our contract negotiations coming soon. This is the time when it is important to stand strong as members of the union. The more united we are the stronger we stand against management. I know that there is a lot of uncertainty moving forward, but we will stand strong and united. Keep your eyes peeled for negotiation observer requests, we aren’t trying to hide things from staff and will welcome those interested when the time comes.

Local Unit officer

We would also like to welcome Alec Willis to our roster of local unit officers. Alec joins us from the NOC float pool. Alec has a wealth of knowledge and is an amazing advocate for his fellow nurses and patients.

Bulletin Board Updates

Zach and I will be rounding the facility on Tuesday, February 18 updating bulletin boards and leaving swag behind. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out at any time.

In Solidarity,
Chair - Elizabeth Gebretsadik
Vice Chair - Kaitlyn Fochs
Secretary/Treasurer - Suzanne Taylor
