Contract negotiations update
Posted Apr 8, 2022
On April 7, 2022 your contract negotiation team met with hospital administration for our 2nd negotiation session. While management expressed their appreciation for all the loyalty and dedication nurses have displayed over the last two years and beyond, they put forth a number of proposals which ask for even more from us. We were stunned and insulted by these proposals. Among the disappointing proposals are mandatory call if placed on low census, reduction to the amount of time for rest between shifts and making nurses wait longer to transfer to a new position. They have also indicated that they intend to propose mandatory call for the operating room nurses.
Meanwhile, they have outright rejected our proposals to improve staffing and now are insisting that we abandon the seniority-based process for picking up extra shifts that we worked so hard to get in place. They have also made a proposal that it would make it easier for them to discipline nurses. And to top it off, management proposed a disappointing wage increase of 2% a year despite all that the RN’s have given to the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nurses have gone the extra mile for Arbor Health. It’s time for Arbor Health to go the extra mile for us!
Your bargaining team is asking you to join the next Arbor Health Community Hospital Board meeting to show your support for a FAIR CONTRACT! The board meets next on April 27, 2022 at 1530 on ZOOM. We will send out additional details as the board meeting approaches.
We are scheduled to meet next with management on May 10, 2022.
We are also in the early stages of planning a union meeting to discuss the current state of contract negotiations and get your feedback…. STAY TUNED!
