Family Birth Center Grievance
Posted Apr 13, 2023
Attention PHSW Nurses,
WSNA filed a grievance on behalf of all nurses regarding management’s decision to place nurses into positions without following the process outlined in our contract for posting jobs. In an effort to recruit new nursing students to join the cohesive, dedicated and skilled team in the birth center, management awarded day shift positions for new resident nurses. WSNA and all nurses want nothing more than to encourage and support new nurses joining our field and our unit, but this violates our contract as all new positions need to be posted in accordance with article 10.6 “Job Vacancies”.
You can read the language in our contract, which can be found in the documents bar above.
We have advanced this grievance to step 3 in the process and will be holding a virtual hearing with the acting CNO, Michelle James via Teams on Wednesday, April 19 from 1600-1700. As we did for step 2, we are inviting all affected RNs to participate in this process by logging in and joining us by following the meeting link you can get from the nurse representative or one of your officers.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your nurse rep, Mara Kieval at mkieval@wsna.org or 206-575-5959 Ext 3051.
In solidarity,
Mara Kieval
