The Washington State Nurses Association-Political Action Committee (WSNA-PAC) is
the nonpartisan political action committee of the WSNA. Established in 1972, WSNA-PAC
was one of the first state Nurses-PACs in the country.
As a leading force in our state's public policy debates, the Washington State
Nurses Association believes the nursing profession and its success affects the state’s
health. Our highest priorities are to address the nursing shortage and ensure full-scope
nursing practice in our State.
One program, and only one, exists to further our goal of assuring ready access to
quality nursing… the Washington State Nurses Association Political Action Committee
(WSNA PAC).
Since its inception in 1972, WSNA PAC has worked not only to ensure the profession
speaks as a unified voice, but continues to provide us with an influential powerful
political presence in our State Capital.
Let’s face it. Advocacy is not just having the "right" position on issues;
it's having the proper resources to deliver our message and tell our story.
The Washington State Nurses Association PAC is that resource!
Why should I get involved?
The Washington State Nurses Association’s current public policy priorities include
ensuring full-scope of nursing practice and addressing the nursing shortage in our
State.
The question is: Are you concerned about the following issues?
- Safe nurse staffing standards
- Scope of practice
- Prohibition of mandatory overtime
- Safe patient handling – no manual lifting
- Malpractice reform
- Reimbursement
- Nursing education funding
- Public health funding
- Continuing education
- Funding for uninsured
- Monetary/scholarship support for nursing education, certification, and training
- Licensure issues
- Nurse retention/shortage
- Health care access
- Safe work environment
If so, you should know WSNA PAC is the only fund set up that aggressively pursues
the election and re-election of candidates for state office who will stand up and
support the nursing profession on key issues like these, as well as a long list
of other issues critical to our future!
The WSNA PAC Campaign
As important as it is to be involved in your local community by supporting local
candidates, it’s equally as important that we are all involved on the State level
as well.
By participating in WSNA PAC, your voice is heard collectively with hundreds of
nurses across the State who have a seat at the table of important public policy
debates. If you don’t get involved, you might face the prospect of bad legislation
or a new set of crippling regulations. To maintain our presence and represent our
profession, we must raise about $5,000 this year!
What we need now is your support. Please join WSNA PAC today!
Ways to be politically active
Make a contribution to WSNA-PAC!
If every member of WSNA were to contribute just $1 a month ($12 a year), WSNA-PAC
would be over $125,000 strong to ensure that we are visible in Olympia.
